| When the first child arrives: Doors unlocked and we are ready to begin another fun-filled day! Free-choice play until breakfast time. 7:00am Breakfast Time! Any child not here by 7:20am need to have eaten before arriving. After breakfast: socialization and preparation for Preschool. 8:00am - 11:00am Preschool begins with us meeting in front of the calendar corner for circle time. We choose our helper of the day, say the Pledge of Alligiance, do some calendar activities, go over the weather, color of the day, and introduce the theme or activities planned for the day. During the summer months we will go outside immediately following circle time to avoid the hot temperatures. Upon returning to the classroom we will move to center rotations. During the winter months, we will move from Circle Time to center rotations with outside play coming later in the morning. During center time, the children are free to roam the room but will be encouraged to try all centers. Depending on the daily plans, there may be a science, sensory, math or literacy center-or maybe several of these. Art is offered every day. Again, the children are encouraged to participate but not forced to. All lesson plans and activities are presented in such a way to encourage the children to manipulate and learn through hands-on participation and through play. Those children preparing for kindergarten will occassionally be offered kindergarten readiness worksheets. 11:00am - 11:20ish Short TV break while lunch is prepared. 11:20am - 12:00pm Lunch Time! Lunch will always meet or exceed the USDA guidelines. Children will be served a minimum of one item from each food group as well as fluid milk. The menu count is done at 9:00am, so please call if you will be arriving after 9:00am. Children not here by 11:30am, regardless of whether counted in the lunch count, should be fed before arriving. 12:00pm - 12:30pm Bathroom break, setting out mats and blankets for quiet time, short TV time. 12:30pm - 2:30pm Quiet Time! After such a busy morning, it's time for us to recharge our batteries. Some of us are light sleepers, so please try to schedlue any pick-ups and drop-offs after 2:00pm. We usually sleep through the phone, so feel free to call Mrs. Tricia during this time as she will be able to give you her undivided attention. 2:30pm - 3:30pm All centers are opened again for free exploration. We practice our social skills and learn all we can about ourselves, each other, and our environment. We learn something new each day! 3:30pm Afternoon Snack! Mrs. Tricia serves us a small snack to keep us happy and content until Mom or Dad can make us some supper. There will always be a minimum of two items from two different food groups. Occassionally, juice or milk is served as the second item. 3:30pm - 5:00pm Moms and Dads start arriving to take us home for some quality family time. While we wait, we play and have fun! 5:00pm Time for Mrs. Tricia to get back to her family! See you tomorrow! |
