Plenty of room to run and play! There are several small houses, a few slides, and some 'kid friendly' swings, as well as props to encourage social interactions and 'pretend' play. Behind the temporary white fence is a large oversize sandbox complete with digging tools and trucks. Right now ants have taken up residence there but once we have rid the area of the critters, the gate wil come down. Trees and a covered patio provide us with adequate shade during the summer months.
The Dramatic Play Center allows children to recreate the social roles that they see in their everyday lives. The basic setup of the center is an environment that is very familiar to most children - the home. However, the Dramatic Play Center is versatile and may become a post office, restaurant, grocery store, or an office. Dress-up clothes, child-sized furniture, and various props are included in this center.
Each child has his/her own personal cubbie unit in which to store his/her belongings. Personal records for each child are stored in folders in the top portion of each cubbie. The bottom portion contains a plastic box for storage of extra change of clothing as well as personal bedding for naptime. Greatest Resource uses a color coded system to help the children learn responsibility and to encourage a sense of belonging. Upon enrollment each child is assigned a color. They will then have a cup, hand towel, sheet, and blanket of that color. The Parent Board with the weekly menu, monthly newsletter and tidbits of news is located to the left of the cubbie unit. Across from the Parent Board are individual folders for newsletters, art projects and anything else that needs to go home.
CAUTION! Hard Hat is recommended before entering our construction zone. This center provides children with interesting construction materials for designing and building. It allows small groups of children to share materials, work together to make designs, and work out problems. Children learn about size, shapes, measurements, distance, and other building skills. The Construction Zone includes a variety of wooden, cardboard, and plastic blocks, Legos and Lincoln Logs, boxes, straws, pens, pencils, paper, tools, vehicles, train tracks, road signs, and other building related accessories.

HANDS-ON and CIRCLE TIME AREA
The Hands-On Center is stocked with many different manipulatives that will enhance the children's small motor skills, improve their eye-hand coordination, and teach early math and literacy concepts. We start every morning in our circle time area. Here we listen to storybooks, go over the color of the day, discuss the weather, share news with each other, and explore the calendar.
SCIENCE and SENSORY CENTER
Peek-A-Boo the Turtle and Tic and Tac, our aquatic frogs, keep us entertained watching them swim and dive! Our science center is stocked with thermometers, scales, measuring items, nature books and other science related materials. We do simple science experiements such as blowing a balloon up with yeast or making "blubber gloves" to see how some animals stay warm in the winter. We use water to discover the properties of everyday objects-will it sink or float? We bring in nature items and examine them with magnifying glasses. We make goop and playdough. The activities and possibilities are limitless!
